Children naturally live in the now
\nThey are generally impatient and find it hard to wait
\nThey want it now \u2013 they live in the present moment
\nBut, parents like to teach them the importance of waiting
\nTo practice delayed gratification
\nNot to be so emotional
\nAnd to calm down <\/p>\n
Parents however, often live in the future
\nTrying to be mature, sensible and responsible
\nWe must insure ourselves and save
\nBuild your pension funds
\nMake sure you have security in the future <\/p>\n
The materialistic parent encourages us to:
\nConsume now and put off the waiting \u2013
\nDebt is good for you
\nBuy stuff you don\u2019t need to occupy your mind and to entertain yourself
\nBuy products that will make you happier, make you cool or more loveable
\nRetail therapy will help you deal with your present difficult situation!<\/p>\n
And Jesus, well he tells us to become like children!<\/p>\n
Many of us either live in the past or the future and few of us risk being in the present.
\nAre you living in the past? Still longing for the good ole days,
\nAre you living for the future? And hoping \u2018Things can only get better\u2019<\/p>\n
Or, are you able to be like the child and be right here, right now\u2026
\nAnd risk the joy, sadness, anger, gladness, anxiety, love, pain, contentment, discontentment, happiness, embarrassment, frustration or some other feeling that arises in each moment.
\nDare you risk being fully present in this moment\u2026.
\nand this moment\u2026
\nthis moment\u2026.
